Webinar: A Simple, Systematic Approach to ECG Interpretation

Microsoft Teams

Add to calendar:

A free webinar on reading ECGs with confidence, with Dr. Laurent Locquet, Dipl. ECVIM-CA (Cardiology), Course Master of SkillVet's cardiology programs.

The moment this webinar is for

A patient's ECG doesn't quite look right. Is it something to act on, or just noise? You have thirty seconds to decide, and no one down the hall to check your read against.

Most vets last got formal ECG training in school. Everything since then has been picked up on the fly: a strip here, a textbook there, a guess in the middle of a busy day.

ECGs don't have to be complicated. In this practical webinar, we go back to the foundations of ECG interpretation and build a simple, systematic approach you can actually use the next time a strip lands on your desk.

What to expect

After this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Read an ECG using a simple, systematic approach that holds up on any tracing, not just the textbook ones.
  • Know what to check first, second, and third, instead of trying to take in the whole strip at once.
  • Recognize the most important and clinically relevant ECG abnormalities.
  • Avoid the interpretation mistakes that come up most often in daily practice.
  • Apply the same step-by-step method consistently, case after case, so the read gets faster and more confident every time you use it.

About your host

Dr. Laurent Locquet is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) and Course Master of SkillVet's cardiology programs, where he has taught every module to date. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ghent University. He completed his European Residency in cardiology at Ghent from 2017 to 2020, became a Diplomate ECVIM-CA in 2022, and was recognized as an RCVS Specialist the same year.

He is also a certified perfusionist (he completed the standard two-year certification program in a single year) and holds an MBA from the London School of Business and Finance. From 2022 to 2026, he practiced at Dick White Referrals in the UK, one of Europe's largest veterinary referral centers. He held an Honorary Associate Professorship at the University of Nottingham for four years.

Since February 2026, he has been self-employed, working through Laurent Locquet Veterinary Consultancy alongside SkillVet.

Nine years into a career built around veterinary cardiology, he brings that clinical experience directly into how he teaches a rhythm strip: one clear step at a time.

Who is this is for?

This webinar is for practicing veterinarians who see ECGs regularly and want a clearer, more confident way to read them: not another list of arrhythmias to memorize, but a method that still holds up when the case in front of you doesn't look like the textbook.

It's free, it's live, and it includes real Q&A with Dr. Locquet. It’s absolutely worth the hour if a rhythm strip has ever made you pause.
