Intensive veterinary cardiology
Module 4
Learning objectives
Day 7: Acquired Heart Diseases in Cats
By the end of this session, participants will be able to distinguish between various feline cardiomyopathies, including hypertrophic, restrictive, and unclassified forms, and interpret their echocardiographic features.
They will learn to assess the risk of thromboembolism, evaluate the significance of left atrial enlargement, and develop treatment plans based on risk stratification.
Case-based discussions will reinforce clinical decision-making in this notoriously subtle and complex species.
Day 8: Congenital Heart Diseases
Delegates will be introduced to the most common congenital heart defects encountered in practice—PDA, pulmonic stenosis, ventricular septal defects, and others.
They will learn to recognize associated murmurs, understand the embryologic basis of defects, and interpret key Doppler findings.
Through interactive discussions, they will improve their diagnostic accuracy and understand when referral for interventional procedures is indicated.
