Intensive veterinary cardiology
Module 3
Learning objectives
Day 5: Immediate Echocardiography in Practice
Participants will gain confidence in operating ultrasound machines, optimizing image acquisition, and obtaining basic cardiac views using right parasternal and left apical approaches.
They will be able to perform essential measurements such as LA/Ao ratio, fractional shortening, and wall thickness.
The goal is to empower general practitioners to use echocardiography as a real-time diagnostic tool in daily cases rather than reserving it for specialist referrals.
Day 6: Common Acquired Heart Diseases in Dogs
Delegates will become proficient in recognizing the echocardiographic and clinical signs of myxomatous mitral valve disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, and pulmonary hypertension.
They will understand disease staging, therapeutic guidelines, and monitoring strategies.
Practical sessions will allow them to refine their skills in differentiating these conditions and making informed treatment decisions at a first-opinion level.
