Rambo, a German Shepherd dog, was presented for cardiac screening before starting training.
As part of the evaluation, a full echocardiographic examination was performed. The examination showed a normal cardiac structure and function, with no evidence of clinically relevant congenital or acquired heart disease.
Cardiac screening can be very valuable in dogs that are expected to undergo increased physical activity, especially before intensive training or working programmes. Even when the final result is normal, the process remains important: it gives reassurance, helps identify potential hidden disease early, and allows the dog to continue training with more confidence.
In this case, the normal echocardiographic findings were correctly recognised and interpreted by Marko, one of our SkillVet delegates from Dubai.
This case is a great example of the progress our delegates are making during the mentorship programme. It is not only about recognising obvious disease, but also about developing the confidence to perform a structured examination, interpret normal findings correctly, and communicate a clear conclusion.
A big congratulations to Marko for his excellent work on this case.
